Aboriginal Friendship Group

Aboriginal Friendship is one of the most important issues for the people of Winnipeg today.

Not only is the United Church redressing the wrongs it committed through the residential school system (for example, through The Healing Fund, and support of The Truth and Justice Commission).

The church, like the world, is also discovering the wisdom and spirituality of Aboriginal peoples for the healing of creation and relations among people.

Do you mean it when you say the creed, "to live with respect in Creation"?  If you do, then you will find a welcome in the Aboriginal Friendship Group.

  • Do you have an eye for fashion?
  • Do you want to develop some retail experience in a small boutique like setting?
  • Do you just appreciate neatness and order?
  • Do you have administrative skills?

Then volunteering at the Clothes Closet may be for you.  Contact us via this link.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat teamH4H is one of the most popular volunteer opportunities in the city.  While a separate organization from the church, it was founded by a church member (President Jimmy Carter), and continues to be supported by volunteers from all consituencies of the city, including churches.

There is a gratifying sense of achievement in wielding tools, working with others, learning a skill, and seeing the walls go up. As in all Social Action activities there are administrative, fund-raising, communication, and support functions to be done as well.

There is usually a line up of volunteers for this program, but ... if you have the interest, let us know.
