A Story from the 70’s

A musical venue, known as “The Hollow Mug”, located at the International Inn near the airport, was home to a group known as “Harry Douglas & the Deep River Boys”. They were amazing. Over the years they lost several of their group. Harry continued to play solo for the months of November and December. He was a deeply spiritual person and chose to attend a different church every Sunday, and yes, Fort Garry United was one of those churches. On the Sunday that Harry visited, the format of the service would change – he and our minister Rev. Don Frame, would pull up comfy easy chairs near the pulpit and the two would have the most inspiring “chat”. The congregation very much looked forward to these times.
